Spinal Stenosis

What is Spinal Stenosis? Spinal refers to your spinal cord, which consists of vertebrae running down your back, and stenosis simply means narrowing. When these vertebrae start pressing on the nerves within our spinal cord, narrowing begins.

Spinal stenosis is most commonly caused by arthritis, scoliosis, or injury. Symptoms may include: pain or numbness in the neck, back, or legs, trouble controlling bladder and bowel function, a burning sensation down the legs, loss of sensation, weakness, or cramping in the arms or legs, loss of sexual drive, or difficulty walking for long periods and distance, foot pain.

Spinal stenosis can be diagnosed through a variety of tests such as x-rays, CT or MRI scans, bone scans, EMG, or myelograms. During your consultation, we will discuss your symptoms and perform a thorough physical evaluation. Our team is highly trained to help you through this diagnosis every step of the way!

If diagnosed, we will develop a customized treatment plan for you to make sure your pain and symptoms are well-managed. We will also provide you with tips on how to improve your overall diet and exercise routines, as maintaining a healthy weight can improve symptoms and your overall well-being.
